Biology of transport systems in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a human opportunistic pathogen displaying numerous strategies to ensure efficient acute and chronic infections. Our team is interested in the membrane transport mechanisms holding-up the infection process. In this respect we are investigating at molecular level, dynamic aspects of substrate recognition and transport by the type II secretion system. A second project developed in the lab consists in the characterization of a new metal import pathway essential for P. aeruginosa survival in scarce environments.
